Resetting Your ‘Text To Columns’ Default Settings
Have you ever imported or pasted data into a worksheet, only to have Excel split up into columns incorrectly?
This caused me untold grief for many years. Often my solution was to resort to shutting down Excel or just giving up and trying it again at a later time.
It occurred to me one day, that this problem seemed to happen just after I had used the ‘Text To Columns’ feature earlier that same day.
When I opened the Text To Columns wizard I found that, on Step 2 of the wizard, the Delimiters option I had selected earlier was now being used as the default setting.
Once I clear the previous Delimiter setting (Space) and reset the default Delimiter (Tab), my data then split correctly.
