Crop an Adobe PDF Page

Open your Adobe PDF document and make sure the page you’re going to crop is displayed in the Document pane.

Access the Advanced Editing toolbar by first clicking “Tools” and then clicking “Advanced Editing.” Select “Show Advanced Editing Toolbar.”

Click the Crop tool. Click and drag on the page to draw a rectangle over the area you want to keep.

Move the mouse into the selected area. Double click when the cursor changes from a crosshatch to an arrow. The Crop Pages dialog box opens showing a thumbnail of the page with the area selected and a check in the Show All Boxes check box.

Use the Units list to change the measurement for your cropping.

Change the page size using fixed sizes listed in the menu or specify a custom size. The crop selection will be centered on the page.

Close the dialog box by clicking “OK.” Results of your cropping and page resizing appear in the Document pane and on the page’s thumbnail.

Use “Command” and “Click” to select multiple thumbnails from the Pages panel.

Click “Options” and “Crop pages…”

Choose your units and adjust your margins in the Crop Pages dialog box.

Tips & Warnings

In Acrobat 8, you can alter the position of the crop selection in the new page size by typing XOffset and YOffset values.

An alternative method to get to the Crop Pages dialog box is to choose the thumbnail of the page (or pages) you wish to crop from the Pages panel. Then click “Options” and “Crop pages…”

Changing units from inches to points allows you greater control in defining the crop area.

Clicking “Edit” and “Undo” won’t undo a crop. You must select “File” and “Revert” to return to the last version of the document.
